our 1st incubation journey

Well shortly after the post were we able to hear them chirp in the eggs and 2 blue eggs moved on their own. This morning the white egg had a crack and is moving now too. Even can hear it chirp sometimes. It is making progress. 1 more day to go.

Latest update:
Our very first chicken hatched today and is a Mottled Ancona (mom) with a Silverrud Isabar (roo). One more has cracked the egg shell. The 1st one has not finished drying off yet and is calling for the others to hatch. Hopefully the second one will hatch quickly and 2 more eggs in their waiting.

Congratulations on your first wishing you many more. :thumbsup

We lost 12 chicks that we hatched in our new incubator. We are 1st timers on hatching, but not chicks. Within 5 days, all died. They wouldn't drink on their own, even though we dipped their beaks several times. They didn't eat at all. The funny thing is they were fine and lively to begin with. Any help would be appreciated.

Without knowing what you provided for them, I would say possibly the food was too large (I like to give mine ground mash as babies.) Or maybe there was an issue with heating in the brooder (too hot or too cold.) I don’t know what could have happened but I am so sorry for the loss of your chicks 😥💕 Hopefully you won’t ever have to experience that again.
