Congratulations on your first wishing you many more.Latest update:
Our very first chicken hatched today and is a Mottled Ancona (mom) with a Silverrud Isabar (roo). One more has cracked the egg shell. The 1st one has not finished drying off yet and is calling for the others to hatch. Hopefully the second one will hatch quickly and 2 more eggs in their waiting.
Without knowing what you provided for them, I would say possibly the food was too large (I like to give mine ground mash as babies.) Or maybe there was an issue with heating in the brooder (too hot or too cold.) I don’t know what could have happened but I am so sorry for the loss of your chicksWe lost 12 chicks that we hatched in our new incubator. We are 1st timers on hatching, but not chicks. Within 5 days, all died. They wouldn't drink on their own, even though we dipped their beaks several times. They didn't eat at all. The funny thing is they were fine and lively to begin with. Any help would be appreciated.
