Our 5 month old Cuckoo Marans 1st egg

Her egg is in the middle. My Americana is on the top and the store bought xl in on the bottom. She went crazy before laying with tons of squawking and bullying the rest of the girls out the coop. I hope her eggs darken. What did yoir 1st C.M llok like? Share some pics

Congratulations on the first egg!

I don't have any Cuckoo Marans, so I don't have any photos to post unfortunately. From what I've heard, Cuckoo Marans tend to lay lighter eggs than other varieties of Marans. I think that it is because they are one of the more common varieties and have possibly been mixed by some hatcheries.

It's quite possible her eggs will darken up. First eggs are rarely great indicators of the final product- eggs will usually get bigger and more perfect.

I read and was told they were to lay chocolate colored eggs. We will see. Will be continued...
