our aviary homestead

Sounds great, same age, you and I. Take care, and but more tools. Hopefully will find construction to be a form of meditation. At least it is for me.

My wife told me that women can never have too many shoes so I guess men can never have too many tools. Nice coop and a very happy daughter I'm sure.

I buy tools because I learned that if I don't have the tool for the job, the guy I hire to do it will have the tool, and it will cost 3x as much as the tool.

So what if I spend 3x as much... (which I often don't). For the once or twice I would use the tool, I can reinvest back into my community and help this pathetic unemployment rate. But you are right, I probably should have something more than a multi-tool and hammer.

Dogfish,
And, even though I only own a multi tool and a hammer, I was able to construct this...

Of course, it took me almost 87 hours to finish.

Thanks for all of the compliments. The design is simple and was intended to keep costs down. I have had many people ask how much. I have just under $450.00 into the entire build. Most of the costs were in all Pressure Treated lumber, hardware and hardware cloth. Suprisingly, the rock for the flooring was cheap... under $25 for over 3200# of 1/4" screened rock.
