our babies are here

yes i was very nervous, this was the very first time trying this. i told my husband i really did not want to do this, i was afraid of hurting the chick, maybe it wasn't time for the chick to come out. in the end i hoping we did the right thing. anyway the chick had a little bleeding on it's rump when coming out of the shell, seems to be drying up now though. she's walking around in the bator , and peeping, so far so good

SO you cut a hole in the top and stapled the wire where the light would be? What kind of light do you use? It looks wonderful. I am needing to make a brooder soon, I will be placing my first eggs in the bator within a week. Can't wait!

Where are you in WV, I am in SE Ohio.

hey there stonebridge farm, we live in harrison county, north central part of the state. by the way these babies are for sale, if any body is interested. the brooder is a walmart sterilite container, i cut the lid in half and stapled the hardware cloth or wire mesh as i call it, to it. from the outside. we use a 125 watt brooder lamp bulb we purchased from lowe's , with a clamp light, we drilled 4 holes in it and installed feet also on it.
