It was getting dark and I was so busy that I forgot to put the chickens. I heard a soft clucking outside. Then I realized that I forgot to put them in! I got a torch and some boots and found one chicken on our door step. We have 4 chickens so I looked for the other three. I was worried for our 8 week old and our 12 week old chicks because they could have gotten lost. They were small and usually quite hard to find even in broad daylight. the coop's door was open and I found one big chicken and the two little ones huddled together. the bigger chickens aren't too nice to the little ones but they usually leave each other alone. I was quite surprised to see them getting along! I put the chickens away and went back inside. Then I realized what one of them was doing on my door step. Three of the chickens were going to stay in the coop and wait. One volunteered to sit on the door step and tell me "hey come on it's getting late put us to bed!" She was a brave chicken sitting alone and vulnerable to cats and foxes that could hurt her.
