Our Chickens have extremely Raw buts...HELP!

Our chickens were born in April they have been laying for quite sometime their bottoms have no feathers and the eggs are now very bloody, we have tried the lice powder several times, ANY IDEAS? thanks

Do you have pictures so we can see what we're dealing with? Do you notice any picking or pecking (like maybe they are picking on each other)? When did their feathers start coming out? Do they have pin feathers coming in?

Are the birds otherwise dry and comfortable?

When you say 'raw butts' are you speaking about the vent opening itself or an area below it?

Any sign of protrusions?

Any sign of waxy egg-like clusters on the remaining feathers?

Any chance there are rodents in your coop- rats in particular will bite birds near the vent and can do serious damage which inevitably can become fatal.

What product did you use as a lice treatment?
Two that are recommended are Sevin and DriKill.

For some immediate relief of raw skin, you might try applying bag balm, the stuff in the square green tin.That will probably help, but you still need to discover the cause.

Can you post some photos, and what are you feeding them? Do they free-range? What kind of litter/bedding material do you have on the floor of the coop?

What breed(s) are they? How many do you have? How many hens, how many roos? Is there fighting? Do you have any other kinds of poultry housed with them?
