Our chicks came a day early! (pics) and a question about water

If you raise the food and water, they will stay cleaner. Raise it to about the height of their backs. That way, they can still reach it, but will be discouraged from climbing (and pooping) in it. Also, less bedding will get kicked into it when they scratch and play if it is higher. I use upturned bowls in my brooder to set the feeder and waterer on, but if you have the means to hang them, that works, too.

The medicated feed gives them low doses of Amprolium, which will help them survive their initial exposure to coccidiosis. In order for it to be effective, you need to continue to feed the medicated feed until about two weeks after they go outside. Just FYI.

I use vitamins, probiotics and apple cider vinegar in their water. I have used all three since we went through the respiratory illness. Before the illness I only used probios, which I really like.

Your chicks are darling. I like their bedding.
