Our coop and run

Oh, one question: The coop we're going to build is the Catawba Converticoop (catawbacoops.com). Will chickenwire be fine to use for this? I've heard people talk about hardware cloth, whatever that is. We have a mid-size dog who loves killing smaller animals. Usually she stays away from places she knows she's not supposed to go, but still...

Well, I did say, under the picture that I still needed to do that!

Heehee! Thanks for all the compliments everyone! We are really excited about it simply because this is our first go at raising chickens!

We have 10 chicks right now....with plans for possibly more, but we think this coop will comfortably fit 10 until we find out which ones are cockerels and they become dinner. We are in the city limits and roosters are forbidden in city limits. So all males have a meeting with their maker before they become roosters!

Yes - definitely use hardware clothe...especially with a dog. Hardware clothe is PVC coted wire that typically has less than 1" square openings. We used 1/4" hardware clothe on the lower half of our run, and buried it about 8-12" down below grade to help keep predators out. It would be tough to reach through and grab a chicken with 1/4" openings. Great coop!!!!
