Our dog lost her puppies last night

Thankfully if it is the awful B-word, we can realistically quarantine everyone. They only leave the ranch for vet appointments as it is.

The two intact dogs would need spaying/neutering, and everyone will be treated.

Hopefully we're thinking the worst and will have better news on Friday.

I'm so sorry

We don't own her anymore, but she is good and lives in a neighboring city with a man who works with my FIL. She is a healthy happy dog. But yes it is very contagious, after her we had to bleach out our house and yard. Both of our remaining dogs are fine though. They only came in contact with her, not the pups or the fluid... and I kept her separated after she lost the pups and until she was spayed.

You should always test test test... BEFORE.

ALWAYS!!!

I would NEVER make any breeding without a negative Brucellosis on both the dog and the b.itch.

Scary stuff!

(edited to fix the GRUMPS inserted where I wrote b.itch...)

yeah from now on we will have any dog tested before hand...honestly before this happened to us I had NEVER heard of it, and my dad bred dogs for YEARS with never having a problem!

Thanks for your good wishes

She's a lot better today. My husband was pretty worried about her last night because she couldn't get up and he had to carry her outside to use the bathroom. This morning she is quite perky and isn't nearly as weak. She's been eating and drinking well, we had a freezer full of beef liver and that seems to be helping her recover.

Other than losing the puppies, she doesn't seem to have any symptoms of brucellosis. We'll just have to wait and see.
