So we "think" we know what happened and why this all started.
A stray cat attacked the last chicken today and our dogs went crazy. It is not the cat who has been hanging out with them but another cat I haven't seen before. The lab went after the cat who was on top the chicken. Once the lab got rid of the cat she turned her attention on the bird. I was home so once I stepped into view she immediately stopped and slinked off. Chicken is fine. Cat got some scratches on her but otherwise I think she will be fine.
The dogs have showed no interest in the chickens till the cat incident. Now if I wasn't home it probably would be different but they reacted once the chickens were attacked by the cat. This is my quess? They still are separate from the chickens but I was doing yard work so I had the fence open and I wanted to see what would happen.
Not sure how I'm going to handle this cat. It's one of those feral cat project and I'm not sure WHO is getting them but I swear there are about 12 cats around here...
