Our Ducks Keep Laying In the Chicken Nest Boxes!

Hey folks. Recently our Khaki Campbell and Pekin ducks started laying. Yay... right? Been waiting since last summer... BUT instead of laying them on the floor of the coop like our Mallard crosses, they are jumping up in the chicken nexting boxes and squatting in there. This wouldn't be a problem, except ducks poop when excited, so I have to keep chiselling duck poop from the corners of the boxes.

I guess I am just venting. In the warmer weather I'll be making them their own house, with next boxes at floor level.

Anyone else ever have to deal with this? I want to read stories!

Why not make some separate nest boxes and place them on the floor of the chicken coop. They could then be moved to the duck coop once constructed and could be used to isolate brooding ducks from the rest of the flock.
