I guess the sun isn't really evil it is more my lack of common sense! I took my family to the ocean yesterday and when we got there is was overcast. Once the sun came out we all put on a layer of sunscreen and went about frollicking in the surf. The water was refreshing and the cool breeze off of the Atlantic kept us comfortable. Well, when we were all done playing and went to shower off we all realized that we were in for a world of hurtin'
I am burnt from the top of my head(which is shaved) to the top of my feet except for the nice bright white band where my bathing suit was! I have had 3rd degree burns and I think this is worse - (could be I was on some heavy meds when I got those burns so I just don't remember) I feel really bad for my kids - my son has a sunburn on his cheeks just below his eyes and on his ears and my daughter has them on her cheeks and the back of her legs

I think my wife is the only one who was able to function today as the rest of us are laying around hoping and praying the red will go away. At least I have time to hang out here on BYC and the distraction helps me forget about the pain! LOL

omg that really sux! I don't burn cuz I have a lot of Indian blood in me and my mom lived in India when she was alittle girl. my skinis almost olive! use lots of aloe!

So sorry, hate sunburns.
I went out to do yardwork yesterday. I looked like some insane person attacked me with a spatula full of crisco.

Imp- Speedy healing

I had really bad poison ivy a few weeks ago and all I could do was sit on the couch so I can relate. I haven't gotten sunburnt at all this summer. I hope it goes away soon.

Thanks everyone - I usually don't burn and thanks to my Italian heritage I usually end up with a nice dark tan but due to my job (and all the rain we had this summer) this is one of the first times I have been able to enjoy a full day outside - Thankfully I am on vacation so I have some time to re-Coop-erate!

Do you have any Aloe Vera Gel? That stuff feels cool and soothing on your skin after a burn. You have to own some if you live near the shore! Hope you feel better soon. I have Irish skin with freckles, when I burn, I BURN.

I hear you. We went to the waterslide/lake park in Douglas Ma the other day. They have a wonderful grassy area right up to the lake, with lots of big trees. We set up in the shade of a big tree. I put sunscreen on the kids because they were wandering all over in the sun. Well I was mostly in the shade, didn't bother with myself.

Long story short, I got burned. Bummer!!!! At least the kids didn't.

Send the wife out for aveno oatmeal baths, and start filling the tub. Mr Saddi burnt so bad on our second date he needed to go to the hospital (I was sooo sure I wasn't getting a third date). I spent the next 3 weeks comming to his place to drench him in aloe and turn on cool fans for him.
