I took young son Coltin to 4H today. And he came up to me and announced "Mom look what I can have". Holding out this tiny beautiful little guy.

Since all we have is large fowl and Coltin is just starting to show (hasnt show yet). One of the leaders from another 4H group gave him this beautiful Silver Duckwing OEG bantam.

On the way home we talked about it....so now I guess we are going to have the LF for our laying flock, and Coltin will start a flock of bantams for 4H.

Here the two cuties are Coltin w/ Longfeather

right after this the chicken will be getting a bath.

That's exactly what happened to us!! Now each child old enough for 4H has their own breed.
Before you know it he will be on BYC telling you so and so has eggs for sale and you will give in even when you pass on new shoes for yourself or something.
Seriously-enjoy the adventure. Its such a great thing you can do as a family.
He looks very proud of his own chicken!!

He is really proud of his chicken. This one should be no problem for him since he takes care of most the other birds. It's very cool to have a chicken that is his size. And he is so calm, and seems to really like to be held. In just 2 days he is now walking out of his cage into Coltins hand. So soon we will get a little girlfriend for Longfeather, and Coltin and dad will be working on a new house for the tiny breeds, LOL

GopherBoy, just wanted to say how nice it is to see you on BYC.

That little bantam is so very small and sweet. Thanks for sharing (and good luck with 4-H!).
