Hi all, would love some help on what colouring these girls may be. I got them from the market, 8 of them were meant to be Splash Laced Reds, I only got 2 splash. I received a few gold laced. And these 2 girls. What colour are they?

These are my 2 splash girls - they are splash, correct? The darker girl is the only one I am a bit iffy on, lol.

The first bird might actually be splash laced (looking at that large white spot on one of her feathers). The second one looks like a blue laced red, but might be splash too i can't tell. The last two definitely look splash to me.

Splash is an incredibly variable color, it can be almost completely white with only a few specks of blue or it can be a light blue with darker flecks of blue, and anything between those two extremes.

Can we see the "gold laced" birds? Since blue is one copy of a dilution gene and splash is two copies, when you breed two blue birds together you get chicks in all three colors. I'm curious if the gold laced are actually black laced red or maybe dark blue. Also wondering how old these chicks were when you got them? Blue is super variable, sometimes it's a very pale grey and sometimes it's so dark it looks black and chick down can be tricky. It took over a month to figure out if my blue laced red wyandotte chick was black or dark blue.

Very helpful, thank you!! The splash are definitely a hard one 😅 I have a cage of splash hens & when they feathered out they all looked completely different. I'll definitely be keeping these 4 until they mature anyway, see how they go. I only have 1 photo of one of the "golds", they do have a slight blue tone, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were blue laced gold! The other "gold" has a 5 point comb & is definitely a male, so I won't be keeping that one regardless. The other "gold" chick a friend decided she wanted, but I'll pop up a pic of it from a week ago, had feathered out very oddly at this stage though lol

Definitely a blue! I looked back and it took me almost 2 full months before I was convinced my girl was blue and not black.

It also took her forever to feather in!
