Last year we moved to a new house on almost ten acres. My husband decided that he wanted to get a few goats since he had a pet goat as a kid and he wanted our kids to have the same experience. (I am a city transplant so the idea was totally foreign to me.) So we went to a local breeder picked out our new goats and were totally bummed when we found out we had to wait two months till we could pick them up. We then we to the local TSC to get everything we needed for the new babies that would be joining us in two whole months (we were a little excited.) Little did We know it was chick days. So after much debate and our four year old birthday boy begging we brought home our first chickens. We fell in love. Here is the coop we built out of old wood crates my husband got for free from a place going out business next to his work.
The coop is made to really be two coops in one and can easily take apart in the middle for if we need them to be apart. It is 8 feet by 16 feet and the shelves are 4 feet by 8 feet. Under one of the selves we have it closed off for our five guineas. The front sides are actually four doors that open up if we end up closing off all the shelves. We will be putting greenhouse panels where there is screen in the winter. Hope you like it.
