Here are a few pics of the coop my wife and I built. This is our first endeavor into raising chickens, but we are pretty happy with the results of the coop. We took our time, used some common sense, "overbuilt" it a little bit with standard house-framing specs, and used a lot of great information we found on this website.

Here are a few of the basic tidbits. The floor framing and 6x6 posts are pressure treated lumber (posts are buried 3+ feet in concrete) and the subfloor is pressure treated plywood. We covered the inside with vinyl flooring to make clean-up easy and we just nailed it around the edges in case we ever need to replace it. The siding is T1-11 and the trim is rough-cut hemlock (the wife picked the color scheme which I didn't think would look good, but I really like it now). The run is also all pressure treated with 1/2"x1/2" galv. hardware cloth, and it sits on a buried concrete block base to help keep predators at bay. We also enclosed the area under the coop to provide a secure shaded area. The pop-door is opened from the outside via stainless aircraft cable, and we can also access the three nest boxes from the outside. The six chickens are now about 18 weeks old, so we hope to see our first eggs in a few more weeks.
