Thanks my first brown layer. Funny you should ask. Bought her at the feed store. I wanted a Orph. Watched as the fella reached in and pulled her out. Long story short my best guess was a Red Star. Posted her pic here and most everyone voted a Red Sex Link. She’s huge and layed early 16 weeks.
(wow lost power for awhile big storm) What do you think?

Oh nice! She looks almost exactly like my red sex-link! Bottom left is Edith, she’s probably my best layer, and friendlier even than my buff! I’ve heard they burn out earlier from laying than many other breeds, but I can’t speak to that because she’s still under 1 year. Even if that is the case they’re still great hens!

I believe red sex link, isa browns, red stars are basically the same but with different names from different hatcheries. You can post photos at "what breed or gender is this," and the folks there will be glad to tell you.

Congratulations! What breed? How old is the chicken? Mine are 4 months old and i feel like they are NEVER going to lay.
I have 4 buff orpingtons and 3 australorps-So far I only have 4 consistently laying. It seemed like it took forever for them to start!!!
