Our first egg!!!

Well, I really can't say for sure what the timeline should could or might be, anywhere from two weeks to two months I'd say, but either way, like I said before, done is done. I went for years without taking any kind of precautions, and never had any big problems, new birds without quarentine etc... I'm careful now, never wear shoes I've worn to a feed store etc in the coop, use more caution with bringing birds in, but I'm not terrified about it either. Live and learn.

I'm being obsessive about watching them now! Everytime one of them breathes funny or sneezes (to get dust out of their nose) I'm running over and picking them up to look for runny noses/eyes. It's pathetic, really.

I had no idea I would *love* the chickens so much I didn't know how sweet they could be! The more I think about it, the more I really don't want them to get sick.

Thanks for the encouraging word about your birds and not having any problems.

Good nutrition, plenty of clean water, dry environment, fresh air, and let em be chickens!! Let em out for sunshine and exercize in fresh air if possible, even if it's cold out IMO ... stuffy dark coops are the worst for breeding germs, bacteria and bad stuff IMO. (all my opinion of course!)

All you can do now.
