I'm guessing the girls are about 19-20 weeks. We got them in the end of April and the young girl at the feed store wasn't sure how old they were, but she said about 4 weeks. ( They had some orangey feathers, and still had some fluff, if that helps.) We have 5 RIRs and one Belgain banty. I am currently looking into getting 2 Easter Eggers, because I'm crazy!

Not sure what Breed you have, but I would get them nest boxes set-up soon. I didn't estimate correctly, and they started laying before my boxes were ready. Once they started laying in the corner of the coop, it seemed to take me a while to convince them to lay in the nest boxes. I have 12 layers, and 4 nest boxes, but of course they all lay in the same one. LOL!!!

OOOOOOHHHHH Cabot, I DO want some of those. And Carrlr, even though I have my boxes set up, golf ball and all, the silly girl left the egg on the floor of the coop. They'll digure it out! Laura, cat litter boxes are great nest boxes. No building, easy clean out, easy to replace if needed! I'll post pics of mine!

Yeah, good point. Sometimes with new layers I think it's a case of them feeling like "wow, I didn't see that coming". LOL!! and BTW congrats on the first egg.

Congrats! I got my first today! She also left it in the run next to the food. The fake egg was kicked out of the nest box so I'm pretty sure she was thinking about it but then got hungry and went out to eat!

My girls are around the same age and 2 are laying and the rest are loafing. Nice egg! I'm jealous since our RIR's and Buffs aren't laying and we don't have any brown eggs, yet. Still waiting...
