Finally got an egg! Not sure from who though. It was a small egg. It's dirty BUT it still looks tinted to me? After a rinse and gentle rub - below is what the egf looked like.

Looked like a dirty Cayuga actually? We have a black duck. She is not beetle green like Cayugas are. She has some but she doesn't have the heavy body they have. But otherwise dont all ducks lay white eggs? This was hiding in the duck house. What do you think...a really funky egg or a tinted duck egg?

Congrats. Look at the lovely color on that yolk. You can't get that at the store.

A lot of ducks lay tinted eggs - but they are not usually tinted nearly to the degree that chicken eggs are. Our Swedish lay mostly very pale green eggs. It is hard to detect the green unless you put them next to pure white eggs for contrast.

What you have there looks like bloom. Some ducks at times lay on the bloom really thickly and it looks like the eggs were caught in an oil spill.

Thanks for that! We were struggling to figure out which breed laid our small tinted egg. I do feel that is not a Pekin egg. It's pretty small. I know birds usually start with small eggs...it's just doesn't feel like a Pekin egg though...so I'm looking at my younger ducks...runners, wh, buffs and 300s. My Pekins are over 22 weeks old now - and we aren't getting eggs unless they are laying them on the pond and the eggs are sinking. LOL We are looking ALL over for any egg stashes. We were SO eggcited about finding this ONE! haha!

No clue who laid it but congrats Zoo! That's one tasty looking egg!

Half the size of my usual layers but I'm ok with that (although she is the biggest of my girls!) One of my KC's lays a blue egg.

Congrats!!!
I haven't found an egg in a few days.
I think they are hiding them from me or laying in the water.
Is that even possible? To lay in water while swimming?
I suppose they "could".........
