All of a sudden, it seems a lot of us are finding first eggs!
Since I have no idea of the age of my rescued ducks, this makes me think that maybe this is just the time of year for all those spring hatched ducklings to reach adulthood. It is a really happy time. Last evening, my neighbor phoned me to report he had found his first chicken egg. I made scrambled eggs for supper last night with some of the firsts—oh, my! so tasty and didn't even add any turmeric to improve the color. These are such treasures our duck-friends offer up.
We got egg #2. It looks eggsactly like yesterdays egg, in the same weird spot in the coop- so I suspect it's the same duck. We are going to start keeping the ducks in until 10pm. We have 11 females- all are 18 and 21 weeks old. 2 eggs. They have to be laying on the pond. Huge waste. lol Soooo! Until they start laying in the coop- we have to hold them in a little longer.
