We just got our first egg! Jordan our 20 week old speckled Sussex did it. I had them all outside free ranging when suddenly Jordan took off running to the coop. Five minutes later I realize I couldn't find her anywhere. The last place I thought to look was the nest box. But there she was squatting. I thought no way she is the smallest and has the palest comb. I thought for sure it would be Beatrice my lavender orpington. Her comb has been beet red for a month! Still no egg from her. What an exciting day! Also she was very quiet and had no egg song after.
