Hi! I am brand new to chicken keeping and to this site, and I was wondering if someone could help me identify what breed my ladies are :) We just picked them up today and the
woman we got them from believes that 2 of them are part Rhode Island Red - the third hen she had no idea. They are about 4 months old.

Here are some photos - 2 of the girls are red and white mixed with splashes of cream and are larger. The third girl is whitish with light gray/almost lavender accents - she is smaller, and also has fuzzy feathers on her cheeks that the other two don't have.

So far we are having a blast with our new babies! My kids are over the moon and so am I :) Thanks so much for your help!

Fuzzy cheeks looks to have green legs - is that correct? She appears to most likely be an Easter Egger - a mixed breed bird bred bred to (hopefully - depending on genes) lay colorful eggs in green/blue.

You look to have an Easter egger pullet and 2 RIR mix cockerels.

I agree with the Easter Eggers but I think they might be mixed with something besides RIR, maybe a delaware, I know the comb is wrong for that. I wanted to say brahmas but wouldn't they have feathered feet if they were mixed with them?

Yes, of course they are mixed with something else, else they'd just be RIR, not mixes. I just didn't wager a guess about the other breed in the mix, there's a lot of possibilities, probably not a homozygous silver bird though, or they would be sex links, and the darker one would be female, but it looks to have pointy saddle feathers coming in. Though those might be just pointy looking atm, the redder bird's comb does not look as big as the other's.

They could be second gen red sex links though. They'd contain RIR [or NH] and would not be sex linked.

No need to get upset. I just asked a question? :) I guess you saw my post before it was done being edited!

Ah, sorry I came over as upset to you, I was not, no worries. I just meant, of course they are mixed with something else if they are RIR mixes ^^; I removed the 'well' now so it doesn't sound as testy, I didn't mean it that way.

RIR already have that columbian patterning so it could be pretty much anything that is not barred or laced or dominant over the columbian restrictor, though there is clearly some silver in the mix, too.

And yes, if they were brahma mixes they would likely have some foot feathering. I forgot to answer that bit.
