Fox got in our coop last night. Killed one and injured another. It got through the smallest opening. We ended up shooting the Fox šŸ˜”. We had to save our girls. Thankfully, my husband heard the chickens going crazy. It was at 2 am. Could we have done anything else to get the fox out of the coop beside killing it?

I'm surprised the fox didn't scoot when he saw you. He probably could't find his way out. I know you must feel bad but you did what you had to do to save your hens. Sometimes nature is not a "beautiful" thing at all  .

That was the case. It couldn't find it's way out.

Once it’s in your coop, you have to do what you have to do in my opinion. We had a family of foxes that nearly wiped my flock out over three summers. One night, they killed 52 juveniles. My coops are like Fort Knox but they still dug under the baseboards and got them. They cashed the dead birds under logs and such for later and then would come back for more. I hate foxes!!

Man. That is terrible. We are in the middle of building a new coop and removed a layer of fence to use on the new one and it got through a small opening.

I hate that for you. It’s better you killed it because I can promise you, they won’t quit coming back until every bird is gone or they are killed. I ended up killing 7.
