Hey this little guy had pipped this morning, no change in the size of crack or any signs of movement. Last heard chirping around 3 hours ago. Any need to be worried.
I've been playing chirping noises into the incubator to sort of encourage him on...
400

Sometimes after pipping they rest...rest a long time....plenty enough time to worry the snot outa you. Just look for movements inside when there's a louder noise that might scare it.

We lost one yesterday it hatched prematurely, as a first timer, when I inspected the still chick I screamed to my husband 'it's had a f'ing huge prolapse'. My husband then informed me that it was indeed the yolk that hadn't been ingested. So... yeah I am worried. If you look in the picture you can see this little dudes beak. But again it's position hasn't changed, it hasn't moved it's beak at all. And unfortunately when it was chirping I wasn't inspecting the 'bator.
You say the little guy is resting... I'd like to know when I can get some rest ha. I've got 7 more to even externally pip yet, today is 1 day overdue on the ducks and it's D day for the anaconas.

Can i just ask... as we're overdue on the ducks. And yes they all have a decent size air sack and the eggs are dark under the air sack... when can i or when should I start to panic that they haven't pipped? I've read that you can help them along but I don't want to do it if it's going to screw things up obviously.

Right well I had to intervene... my chick that I left to' rest' died. He had piped through the membrane and as I said no further movement... I thought I'd take back a bit more shell and realised he wasn't moving or breathing. Decided to check all my other eggs. So I did the float test. All bobbed. So I pin pricked the air sack and found that 6 out of the 7 that were ok yesterday are now for some reason hard boiled. I've got a little guy under the heat lamp as he'd pipped through his air sack but hadn't got through his shell. So I've opened a hole for him. But I already no that I've lost him too. So gutted.
I started with 48. After candling we had 8. And we've not had a single one hatch fine. Only 3 chickens fully formed but died as they couldn't get through the shell. And no ducks at all.

So sorry to hear that, is it possible that the temperature was not accurate. Very often the thermometers and hygrometer that are built in are off by alot. I use separate ones that can be calibrated using ice water for thermometers and the salt test for the hygrometer. Hoping you have better luck in the future.

I honestly have no idea. My husband bought the incubator and I told him from the beginning that it looked like a 'hongkong special' implying that it was a mass produced piece of sh*t. As you can tell I'm not very happy.
We've looked at the Turner and it's missing a bolt so we've come to the conclusion that the eggs weren't turning correctly and that the birds were sticking to the sides of the shell. We've inspected the 3 chickens that formed and 1 hadn't ingested it's yolk sack despite it pipping. One had ingested and even had had a poo inside the egg but hadn't managed to externally pip. It had suffocated. And my 3rd little chap had ingested and pipped but again had suffocated.
Anyone know how to resuscitate a chick?
Lol
I'm beside myself. We've got 48 Guinea fowl eggs waiting to go in and I'm dreading it.
What temp do they need to be running at? Humidity?
We bought a second thermometer as well as using the incubator one. And in all fairness we made the rookie mistake of following the instructions based on my husbands conversation with the man who sold it to him. As he'd vouched for the success of the machine and his flocks of chickens.

I use this method for humidity for incubating chickens and turkeys. I believe that ducks need slightly higher.

If it has a fan temp should be around 99.5 and if not 101-102.

If you check out the learning center ther are some good articles on incubation especially the one by sally sunshine. I hope you have a much better hatch next time. I would also research your particulate bator. It looks like it might be a janoel knock off.
