our first kid

CUTIE!!! what a gorgeous little buck! My rescued twin's momma kind of ignores them too. I have to go outside before she starts looking for them! My first baby,{to be born at my place} of one of my other does - she was a very VERY good momma, and it was her first... some can take it, some can't...just like humans!

Well today we took a giant step in our lives. We started milking Vera. So, twice a day, for the rest of our lives we'll be milking goats. It's rather depressing when you put it that way.

We just set up our Safgard P-3000 pasteurizer. It seems like a lot of fuss for one goat... but we will be milking 3 in our future.

But, you will have at least a few months off every year if you breed them. They need to be dried off at least 2 months before they kid or they will not produce any colostrum, they'll just keep right on milking.
