Our flock of three laid it's first egg Saturday (and another this morning) - both from our Buff Orpington.
The first time, she laid the egg in the nesting box and then headed out into the run to resume her usual behavior. Today, she laid the egg and just laid on top of it. I went into the coop and was petting her, saw the egg down there, and just reached down and grabbed it. She didn't seem to care, but wondered if this was bad behavior on my part. Should I have waited until she left it?
Did it about 10 minutes ago, just went and checked on her and she is still laying there. Seems fine and not aggressive at all...just relaxing.
