I am still reeling from finding our sweet Rosie in the run this morning. I do a head count every night when I bring our their oatmeal. Yesterday they had their oatmeal in the morning, so that little thing must have distracted me. I remember looking in the hen house, but poor Rosie will still out in the run.

So sad.

Sorry for your loss.3 years of chickens for me,and I am always dreading that first predator loss.Already lost 3 to illness. It is always sad,but at the same time we think ahead to the hen who will replace the one that died.

Bummer. Sorry for your loss.
Each chicken is different; an individual. You think you might get used to losing them over time, but you don't. Just be glad you had 'em when you did.

Thanks, yes, she def had a personality. It was extra sad because she really was the "sweetest" and watched over the smallest of the bunch. She will be missed. But we are already talking about getting another chick in the spring and naming her "rosie".
