Thanks to several BYC'ers we've worked out our DIY bator and have finally gotten a successful hatch. They are 1 week old and had there first "outing" this afternoon. We have been enjoying the little peeps but my wife was asking this morning how much longer must they live in the living room? (is 6 months too long?

Here is my daughter watching over the brood. I call her momma chicken as she watches their every move.

Here she is rocking it too sleep

The multicolored chick facing the camera is a BigMedicine project roo over a WC hen offspring. It hatched 3 days later than it's siblings. The other chicks are from production reds and australorp hens.

Here is the one chick that hatched from a white egg. The hen was an Ancona.
