Our first time at incubating eggs

When you candle is up to you. Some people stick to 7 days to do the first check, and marking the ones that are questionable. Then again at day 14, and the last candling on day 18 as they go into the hatcher, or you stop turning. That way you can remove the clears, or quitters. I usually can't contain myself, and start checking for veins on day 3. You should, at day 5, be able to see some veins starting to form around the edge of the airsac.

Good luck with your first hatch!!

Since this is your first hatch I would wait till day 12ish by then you should be able to see a good size 'blob" and be able to tell what eggs are good and what eggs are duds !! If you candle before that make sure you dont toss any eggs till day 12ish so you can be 100% sure.

Make sure you keep your nose open and if you smell any funky smell or see any ozzing get the egg out right away !!

Good luck !!
