Our guinea did not come home to roost a few nights ago. We thought she might have been killed by a fox like the other three we had. Our dog found her sitting on a clutch of 15 eggs in the bushes behind the smoke house. I felt so sorry for her that I added two of our fertilized chicken eggs to her clutch. I hope at least one will hatch so she doesn't sit all that time for nothing. I just hope they don't turn out to be roosters

I put up a stake in front of her nest with "predator eyes" in three directions in the hopes it will deter foxes or other small predator. She hides really well and if our dog had not found her I certainly wouldn't have.
Here is a link to the deterrent I used:

Has anyone used it or a similar item? If so, I would really appreciate knowing if it worked for you. Thank you.

update: The guinea, Yeller, left her nest for a while and I sneaked a peak. She had rearranged her eggs. I could tell because the ones I added where in a different spot. I guess she didn't mind and she is sitting on them now.

The proud Mama and her brood to be:

two fertile chicken eggs, the best bet.
Up to 16 Guins, if our Romeo took a liking to her :)
Parthenogenesis, the least likely but still a possibility.
I will keep you updated.

I have a Guinea sitting on a pile of eggs and I don't think any of them are hers, even if they are we don't have a male so hers would not be fertilized. She leaves the nest all day so I am going to take the eggs as they are perfectly good chicken eggs and I am going to eat them....lol

Aren't you going to get fertilised eggs for her
