YAY! My son Charlie and I have been looking @ all the homemade incubators and made one! We have had 70% hatch rate. I got a cooler box from the lab I work in, we get lab supplies delivered in them and then the coolers are set aside for the trash so I liberated one!
Charlie cut an opening in the lid and inserted glass from a pic frame.
We did find masking tape not duct tape is the way to go.
We followed wiring istructions from the sites here, super easy once we found a step by step.
Used the fan from old computer, cost total maybe 20$.
Water heater thermostat, and lamp kit from walmart.
Including the pvc (1/2in) for the turner, to which we glue gunned egg cartons!
We ran ours side by side my husbands name brand and we like ours much better. For lock down just remove turner place eggs in bottom and voila.
GET OUT THERE AND MAKE ONE.
Look @ all the ones in the icubator section and design your own.
I never wired a thing before, and I did it.
Now to figure how to get our pix loaded.

Awesome, what type does your husband have?

I made mine from a plastic cooler, and followed the step by step instructions for wiring too. I had never wired ANYTHING!! I find the WHT can be tricky to set. For some reason ambient temps effect my incubator. I've learned odd ways to alter the temp WITHOUT altering the thermostat.

Good job. Keep on hatching!
