Trying to find an easy wormer

I'm sure this has been talked about ad nauseam but here we go anyway.

I have about 20 chickens that have never been wormed. Some are bout 4 years old some are 7 months. They all mingle together. They are not tame. They run from me like I'm a predator anytime I get close. So catching each one and dosing them individually is not gonna happen.

I'm looking for something I can mix in their water, or sprinkle in the coop, or something they can eat, or some other miracle wormer.

I have a few with poopy butts, and egg production has been down for months now. I'm thinking they have worms. But even if they don't...be a good idea to worm them anyway.

Any suggestions?

To treat most worms that poultry can have except for Tapeworm you can use Safeguard (Fenbendazole) or Valbazen (Albendazole). Both are given orally by weight; they do not mix well with water.

Safeguard 10% Liquid Goat Dewormer or 10% Equine Paste dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days in a row.
---OR---
Valbazen dose is 0.08ml per pound of weight given orally once, then repeated in 10 days.

If you want to medicate water for Roundworms Only.

Use Levamisole Wormout Laying Hen Solution. You can find it at Jedds, instructions on dosing and usage is on the website and bottle.

So I might have to use a few different meds then? I'm not treating orally. It has to go in the water or food or thoughts & prayers.

But if it's only in the water it will only treat roundworms?

A lot depends on what you are trying to treat.

For Roundworms Only, there's solutions to are water soluble. If you are wanting to treat other worms besides Roundworms, like Capillary, Gape, Tapeworm, etc., then the medications are given orally by weight.

It may be that you can take some samplings of poop to a vet and have a fecal float to determine if your flock even needs to be dewormed at all.
While worms can affect production, there can be other reasons. Same for poopy butts.

Thanks! I should take a sample to be tested. I've looked up photos and what I think I see is capillary because they are very small worms in the poo. IDK if the chickens are expelling them or they are developing between poop board cleanings from flys or whatnot. But if that's the case sounds like water treatment alone won't do squat.

They could possibly be cecal worms or maggots. A pic would help.

Levamisole would be your best bet since you want a wormer mixed in water. Provide the Levamisole treated water in the morning prior to letting them out of the coop for the day.
Birds are thirsty after being cooped up all night and will readily drink the treated water. Dont feed your birds prior to worming, wait a couple of hours before feeding them. This will give time for the wormer to work its way into the bloodstream and do its job properly. Also, there are always a couple of stragglers low in the pecking order that'll be last to drink the treated water.
Levamisole will take care of all types of poultry roundworms, but not tapeworms.
