Hi all, I am new here and looking for advise, I started last year and I added a few members time to time, I have 19 hens and 2 rooster and I think I am not the only one looking for those beautiful egg colors, I love my chickens and they are pretty good when I add new members. I am looking for ermine and BCM,I was planning to order from cacklehatchery but I dont want to take the risk of the shipping, so I looked and I found roostercathatchery in Florida but not sure if is legit and as is the first time ordering online I want to be sure.
in advance thanks a lot for your comments
Linda

thank you so much for your comment,
The only one that comes up for me is in Virginia.
They've only been around a few years so it's likely they're just breeding cackle stock anyway for a few more $$$.
I'd skip them.
Cackle is a much better bet for birds.
thank you so much for your comment, wich one you buy from?

Hi Linda, welcome to the forum. Glad you joined.

I found roostercathatchery in Florida
Do you have a link to the one in Florida so I can see their site? This is mainly for curiosity, I'd just like to see what they say.

They are interesting chickens. The Ermine color is not recognized by the APA though there is a group trying to get them recognized as Ameraucana. The Ermine coloring will never stabilize, you can get Black, White, or Ermine chicks when you breed them. Sounds like fun chickens to me.

https://www.roostercathatchery.com/product-page/ermine-ameraucanas this is the site. I will like to add them and the BCM. I think with time I will add different ones not for breeding but to enjoy the personality and the beautiful colors.

Thanks for the RCH link. That's the hatchery that Nuthatched found in Virginia, not Florida.

You can get sexed pullets with an 85% accuracy rate from Cackle. RCH only sells straight run. Cackle charges $30 per female chick, Cackle charges $24 per straight run chick, and RCH $30 per straight run chick.

If both parents are Ermine patterned, half the chicks will have the Ermine pattern, 1/4 will be solid white, and 1/4 will be solid black. Cackle clearly says half will be Ermine, 1/4 black, and 1/4 white. There are ways they could get all Ermine chicks but I don't know if RCH uses those methods. Before I ordered I'd call the RCH hatchery and get confirmation that all of the chicks they send you will be Ermine patterned.

Cackle is sold out until August. Looks like RCH may be available earlier.

RCH was founded in 2023. Cackle was founded in 1936. I could not find any reviews of RCH, Cackle has a link to their reviews.

Ermine Ameraucana are a project chicken. They are still breeding them to try to get them "perfect". They are striking and lay some pretty blue eggs. But don't expect them to win too may ribbons at a chicken show, they are still under development.
