Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

In 'big chick' news, they all made it to the shelter tonight unassisted. Yay, one less jog to do at dinner time!
Somehow I ALWAYS spend the last hour in the hen house/run making sure everyone has settled for the night, that no-one is being pecked till bleeding, that the babies aren't being trodden on, that no-one has sneaked into the nesting box for a snooze. That my randy younger rooster isn't trying to accost the ladies with amorous intentions once they have settled on the roost.

I can't seem to leave them alone. Goodness knows how they manage without me when I am on holiday and my in-laws do the bare minimum.

They only go into run to collect eggs, check feed and water then they are straight back out. No wonder when I come home they all rush to me and try to fly up at me all at once for cuddles. Pamperd chooks indeed

Cool, we have got two days of speckled eggs from our BV too, except ours are dark speckles not white.

I'm not crazy, we just happen to have chickens here with pet humans!

I got a couple of random pictures this afternoon, trying to capture the Blue Brothers mostly. WHen I get a chance to download them I will stick them up.

Oh no, certainly not crazy....don't reach chicken crazy until over 40 on a residential property, so us at 38 is totally not crazy hahahaha

Cat crazy though, that's a whole different story, meet Debbie :)
