Oh no Fancy, hope it goes down soon. You could send a small portion of the rain my way. Although thunderstorms are in hhe forecast for today.

Some positive news to keep your minds off the various unpleasant weathers around the globe.

Wilma got her period! We now have a brown egg layer among our flock, so that's 5 layers total. The color is a bit lighter than what I hoped for, but maybe she'll get better at painting them with some time. It is, after all, her first ova. Pretty okay size for a young pullet, 37 grams. I'm hoping she'll turn into our monster egg layer with some age, she's only 19 weeks so far. Her laying induced one heck of an egg song among the flock, it seems all of them had been waiting at the edge of their seats.

That's Veera's egg next to it, it's a light pinkish tan. The table is clean white.

Well the cows were safe just before dark , hope the water starts to recede now. The snow is falling.

Elsa is staying in bed. Our place was just featured on southern cross news.
It's getting very windy again and the rain just hasn't let up. I felt sorry for the chickens so I made them warm pasta , sardines and eggs.

Fancy, I feel so sorry for you. That's going to be a lot of work to clear up. Hopefully the water will go down soon.

Yes , we've woken up to find that all is well again. The sun is out and the water has mostly run away. Will have my Vegemite on toast and go out to survey the damage .

Congrats! That's some great news. Looks like a pretty dark egg to me. I have found that as the season passes the colour gets smoother and darker, and every now and then our Maran throws one a bit lighter, or it gets scratched up a bit. Of the eggs we set, the Maran's were the largest.

Ben, yeah the basecoat is nice and dark, but the topcoat is a weird greyish brown
