Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

So now I have to go Google egg squat (without chicken)! Lol.
yeah, when you reach for them and they squat down and their "shoulders" stay up, head down.

Yes- raccoon has been decommissioned, Along with the one trapped last night.

Hahahaha, true.

I was surprised to see what I did, when my brain was very much in chicken mode, not chick mode. Just thought I would give warning,

Now...to go down and visit my team, and see if I can get anyone to perform the encouraging squat for me!

OK, so the squat looks almost exactly the same as the video, except no raised wings. I think it's more of a duck than a squat hahahaha.

Starting to think the pelvic thing is not all that accurate!

my money is on the pelvic thing. the wattles are light. give it 2 weeks and you will be eating pullet eggs

Might keep the first one. Won't be our first egg ever, but will be the very first 'full cycle' one. Coming from a bird we hatched and raised at home.

Spent the afternoon after work working on the rooster box. Picked up a rotary vent on special for vehicles, and have all the trim pieces cut to size. Just working through teh panels, then join them all up.

Will get some pictures tomorrow of progress.

Finally finished reading! It's been so cool to read all about your chicken adventures. Thanks!
