Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

LOL Actually I am the name of the store is friendly grocer but the whole store and service is very unfriendly.. Hence the name the locals give it.
I was actually referring to names like Toowoomba, I love these Australian names for places. Sounds like a very fertile lady. "This is Toowoomba, she has thirty seven kids."

Maybe you should do some civil disobedience with a can of spray-paint... You could have them show their support for one of the largest organizations that are striving for world peace and human rights...

I think I'm trying too hard to be funny right now. I'm picturing anyone reading this with the same face that my better half makes when I'm laughing about the "hilarious" joke I've just made. Like on the phone the other night, she said "You'll just have to bear with me for a moment." I kept making these "Groaaar" sounds during the rest of the call after that. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just a bit 'different' from everybody else.

Not all all Vehve - it sounds like you are just about ready for sprogletts of your own. They are a far more appreciative audience for Groaaar sounds.

He's a blue laced red Wyandotte , I'm hoping to get more mahogany by mating him to that hen. Working on the comb. Type first .

Hopefully his offspring will have more mahogany however he is still stunning. I have been following the progress of Raf Wood's blue laced red line for a few years and in the last two years he has made great progress with the mahogany and depth of red.
Here is a link to a pic of a couple of his birds.

It is evident that you have been breeding for type though. In my opinion your blrw Leonardo has outstanding type, far better than many other laced wyandottes I have seen!

Some of them have faces that only a mother could love. This little wylkie roo for instance .we named him Tarzan.

That's what happens when a blrw roo mates a silkie.

There's a special spot in my heart for godawfully ugly animals.

Also, I care more about the abilities of animals, not breeding for aesthetic perfection. Here's an example of our dogs. These are actual 100% purebred labrador retrievers, I kid you not. The dachshund's just cute, I admit. And actually looks like a dachshund. But she can still chase the hell out of a deer at 9 years. The labs bring a dead ducky pretty nicely too.
