That's an inspiring story, would make for a nice movie. Or is there one already?

I'm starting to get confused, loads of cross-conversation going on.

That good to hear, we used to worry about that, especially when we had a few younger birds. I didn't want them piling up. They figure it out eventually at bedtime. I have a poop drum that needs cleaning out actually, might tackle that later in the week.

Have you seen any squatting yet Felix?

Only from Topi the rooster. Don't think he was trying to pass an egg though. Karin wen't to herd them in in the morning and apparently interrupted his morning wash. He seemed to injure his left foot a bit, because he was squatting and walking like a penguin after that. All better now though.

We had to go down the back and rescue the goats last week, flash flood. On the way down the water was lapping at the crossing. 10 minutes later it was running in the top of my gumboots. Slosh slosh all the way home. Have you ever tried to get gumboots off once it has sucked onto your foot.

I have a pair of too small ones I use at the cottage when putting the pier out. I once spent 20 minutes trying to pry them off.

I hadn't heard of Cliff Young before, but that is amazing. Clearly a sensible bloke too, saying no when they asked if he would do it again.

Good to hear that the bullies are out the way, Ben. I would love to know why they do something like that. It just sounds so vicious. It makes me feel slightly differently about my hens that followed Rosie (my small cat) around their run.
I have some wellies my kids have clogs for use in the coop & run. They never come in the house & no other shoes go into the chicken areas. It works well & I get to feel farmerish for short periods without actually having to live on a working farm. Most are not quite as idyllic looking as Fancy's, not to mention lots of hard work.

My experience of farmerish wellies is that they are always the wrong size. Every time I go into a barn it's a heck of a squeeze. And for Karin it's like walking around with a pair of cruise ships on her feet. The idea of every barn having their own wellies is good for bio-security, but they could maybe keep a bit better assortment of sizes. But still, I sometimes like to join Karin when she's on call and gets called to the dairy farms. Something soothing about a calf who's trying to lick up your fingers

Usually she doesn't want me with her though, apparently it seems a bit unprofessional to bring city folk with you.

Update on Topi the rooster: He seems to be using his foot normally now, and they where taking turns crowing with Taneli. One thing I've been a bit concerned about is that everyone seems to take a bit runny poops. Hopefully it's just the vast amount of leftovers and vegetable peels that I process through them before composting. Crops are usually full, and they're eating with good appetite and keeping active, so I'm not that worried.

What's the name of the Cliff Young movie, might be worth checking out.

Fancy, I hate you. Never before have I scrolled through a gallery of pictures featuring an array of various fecal deposits and felt a sense of relief. (And I don't mean that I would of have done it without the sense of relief either.) I blame you for this.

But thank you. We've had the cecal and high heat varieties. Apparently +20 is considered high heat by Finnish chickens. But good to know that I'm just being hysterical. Maybe I should listen to the better half more. She thinks my worrying is adorable, and refuses to check them for lice and ticks every time I see them scratch themselves a bit. She's in charge of health and poop handling, I just give them food and enjoy watching them. And build stuff.

Have to see if I could find the movie somewhere, was it the one made in 2013?

THE best poop chart around. Never have to look for to know if the birds are doing ok or if they is something to worry about.

Ben, the advert seems promising, I'd like to see that one. Don't think it would be possible though without possibly committing slight illegalities...

And the poopchart was really comprehensive, had to bookmark it. I wonder if in olden times people had a book with hand-drawn images of abnormal and normal poop. Actually the listing of the different poops reminds me of the scene in Forrest Gump where Bubba lists a few shrimp (that's prawn for you upside-down people) dishes.

Every day I'm more and more convinced that chicken people are not completely right in the head.
