Our introduction to keeping chickens, the high's, the lows and pics of our journey.

Every day I am more and more convinced that (most) chicken people are completely right in the head! The non chicken people just don't know it yet!

It's called Stockholm-syndrome.

By the way, if anyone has any more good poultry health related websites you feel that are good to be aware of, feel free to pm links to them to me. It can be more clinical stuff too.

I've got hundreds. The chicken chick has most things covered though.
Yeah, there certainly seems to be a good amount of topics to choose from.

Just finished "Cliffy" by the way. It was a pretty decent feelgood movie. I give it two "bwarks" and an eggsong.

In the coop we have some regression today. The baby Sussexes are back to sleeping on top of their upside down sanctuary.

The compost is going stronger than ever. Today it measured 27 C half a meter above the pile. And it's secreting a lovely citrus smell, due to me dumping about ten limes in there a week ago. Covers up any other odors.

And the garden seems to have exploded to life, even though one shortlegged, longbacked little lady who shall not be named seems to have been walkin around in our broccoli and cauliflower box. Potatoes, beans, salads, carrots and Jerusalem artichokes growing like crazy.

Sal seems in her happy trance. Last night I did a quick candle, but the torch is dieing so could not see the best. Of the two silkies we still have going only 1/2 looks viable, one maybe two of the three Coro's looks like it's developing but we might have 2/3 BLRW. I have a new headlamp on order and I am pretty confident that will see into emu eggs so we should know more when that gets here.

While moving the mobile coop this morning a Rock escaped. I was trying to capture it and all I could think of was vehve running circles around his coop.

Glad I made a leg hook, as soon as it touched her leg she squatted, easy pickings then. Just wish I remembered I made the thing sooner!

Let's hope your eyes are playing tricks on you. I'll have to get me one those hooks. Just transferred 2 pol hens from a cat carry cage into a larger holding pen cause the lady isn't picking them up till after 4 this Arvo. Then tonight I'll be back out with ' trusty ' headlamp rounding up the pol coro's and slw . Happy that they are all going to acreage blocks with new coops. While I was out feeding the horses and haying everyone the sea eagle flew overhead with a rather large branch.
A good sign , means his doing his housework and freshening up the nest for his lady. Well the sun is shining and I'm off to clean all the coops out. Enjoy your day. :)

Fancy, smellavision seems like a bad idea... have to look at the eggshapes. Sea eagles are magnicifent, we've got those too.

Ben, was Benny Hill music playing?

Scott, you're in denial. Embrace the insanity and accept that you too are slightly mad.
