Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting. We have got 2 Indian runners who are nearly 9 weeks old. They are amazing and have been fantastic.when we got home on Sunday our white one was limping so we kept an eye out, by Wednesday she couldn't weight bear at all. We have bee carrying her out to her pool and feeding/watering her. She seems happy enough but we are just concerned. I puther in the bath last night and have some pictures of her bad leg. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me. Thank you :-)

Doesn’t look like any bumble foot going on. Could be an injury or niacin deficiency . Do you see any redness heat swelling along the leg? What has she been fed? Ducklings need more niacin than reg chick starter has so we supplement with nutritional yeast or if already having a problem we go with liquid b complex most TSC will have it it’s in the cattle dept an will say injectable but just peel off the foil and use a dropper pull out one ml and put over something really tasty like dried meal worms chopped tomatoes etc just enough for her to gobble it right down. Once they have a deficiency it’s really best and works so much better to use the liquid b complex. Once she is over this whether def or injury then go with nutritional yeast 1 Tablespoon per cup of feed.

Welcome to posting! Glad you are here to get help! I would suspect the need for Bcomplex supplement. I am currently dealing with a ducky niacin deficiency myself. And @Miss Lydia, you should create an article for this. I swear ducklings should come with a rag or tattoo or something for us new moms and dads who don't know or realize the significance of niacin and diet for our lil water babies! I wish I had know how important from day one! Best wishes for a quick fix and happy active duckling soon Davegem!:fl

Might have injured its leg? What do you feed?

We feed them both crumb as recommended by the lady we had them off. As treats they have peas and sweetcorn. She seems in a lot more pain tonight than ever. She is "squaking" whenever we try to move her. I'm sure she has hurt it. She is so content sat on my chest with her beak under my chin or over my shoulder.

If you have a vet you use often they may sell you some metacam meloxocam it’s for pain an inflammation. Let her rest and give her warm water soaks to take the pressure off her leg and also helps keep the leg muscles from getting to weak.
