Our new chicken run

we started with a 6 x 12 dog kennel run added some extra post for strudyness


the top is made secued with green house tin and 6 bars with self taping screws in the centers and 1 1/4 inch 2 hole emt strapping on the ends



for the floor we covered it in fencing to keep out animals for digging under it

now we just need to build a coop to put inside it

That is such a tidy looking coop. I love it. I might use that idea sometime! Especially if I end up with too many roosters and need bachelor quarters, lol.

We were going to do just that but changed our minds as it wasn't big enough after we went from wanting 5 hens to 15

we now have a coop for them inside the run

we used a deck box it has a flip top and we cut a hole in it for them to get in
with this design the whole thing is still light enough that we can move it with 2 people


there was some digging around the coop last night it was there first night out there I think it was my chicken loving dog
but this morning there was a coyote checking out the coop as well i feel they are pretty secue inside with the fencing on the bottom for the cage but my dh want to use some wire closet shelfing around the edges to discourage digging

That is a nice area for them indeed. I would put wire mesh cloth up the sides of the run about 2' - 3' That will keep critter from reaching through and snatching a chicken.
