Our new Coop!

Well, it's the same with our coop. Wish I could post a pic but using iPhone and I've yet to be able to post one. 2x4s 4/4s 3/4" plywood roof complete with side boards and spacer boards. Enough braver pieces, an earthquake couldn't shake it. It's painted to match the house, serious grey. It's not very bright but from the road it blends in well. Hubby said what paint we don't use can be used on the house. I can go inside and clean and sit with the peeps. Access door to the nest boxes from outside the enclosure. It looks like a house with the roof the way it is so I put a mailbox on. I put hand sanitizer in it some gloves, and a bottle of meal worms they love em. Hubby does have skills and power tools, it was interesting to watch him put it together. I helped as much as possible. It needs some girly touches though.

DLV58 I have plans to use sweet PDZ in the coop and construction sand in the run. We have to finish the run 1st though.

As for the airy part, we are in Texas and its HOT!!! Lol 100 or above forecasted for the next week and probably the next too.

Weird??? Our chickens sleep on the coop floor. They aren't roosting. It doesn't matter, but just found it strange. Coop pictures above in this thread.

My 4 girls have been living in their enclsure now for 3 weeks. It's working out well. The seem to like it. I need to get started on a moveable run though. They need to feel the grass, dig and forage. As I said they can't free range. Sweet PDZ is great stuff! Also added DE. The coop area has one shavings and sand in the poop board. I try to add things like forage cake, veggie basket to give them variety and relieve bordem. Still, they need a run. Waiting on a payday to make this happen. It will.

I hear you! This is our new coop that will sit inside our 10x10x6 run. Well, it's in there now but we aren't finished putting the hardware cloth on the run. It has been over 100 degrees all week and it is too hot. I hope to work on the run tomorrow. Right now 2 are in the new coop and 2 are in our old coop. I can't wait to put them together in the new, bigger place.

I understand hot. It's been hot in texas. Today we were very hot. I placed a fan at the end of the coop and ice in the water. My girls mouths were open and holding their wings out. The fan helped. This is the first time since moving in the new coop I've had to use the fan. There's lots of air circulation but when there's no breeze and the feel like temp is over 100, I put a fan on them. We spent some hot days building.
