We traveled to very north ga to a ND breeder to choose our new buck today.

I got to name him - Sinatra!

Can't wait to get him home!

wow he will make some beautiful babies! I was wondering how dairy your NG lines are? I am just wondering how much milk a doe would produce?

Thanks,
Henry

Henry -

Here in the south east, NDs are bred more for pets and showing than utility, so milk production has somewhat been lost. I also don't follow proper protocol (I don't start milking my does until I wean their kids at 8 weeks) so I don't see the production I could if I started milking at 2 weeks in.

My girls give anywhere from 8 oz to 12 oz per milking. I milk twice a day. Plenty for a family of 4, but apparently low production in the general scheme. From what I understand, the experimentals like mini-Nubians and the like are better milkers.
