Our New Muscovies

We got our new muscovies yesterday, from HatTrickSilkies in PA. My husband picked them up on his way home from a hunting trip. They are so beautiful! We're in love with them already.

We got a year old chocolate duck and a 4 month old lavender drake. We have tentatively named them Mocha and Mr. Smartypants. (We'll see if those names stick.)

Here are some photos I took this evening.

They've adjusted to the change of residence well. They've been eating, drinking, went in the duckhouse on their own this evening. I still need to sink their bathing pool in the ground. In the meantime, they're cheerfully bathing in their drinking water container!

I'm so looking forward to ducklings in the spring!

Those are REALLY nice ducks . I wish i had a lavander male like that to go woth my lavander female /

Yes, the lavender is a beautiful color. Mr. Smartypants is one handsome fella. He's also quite friendly. He reminds me of a big blue dog. I had read that male muscovies hiss, but to me it sounds like a dog panting. So, he follows me around, panting like a dog. It's so funny!
