Hello everyone!
Yesterday we picked up 4 two-week old quail! I currently have them in a medium sized dog crate while their coop is being finished. We have already fallen head over heels for these sweet little birds! In terms of food, I got them a non-medicated chick starter. I have heard that they will need a lot of protein in their feed, but will what I have do for now? If y’all have any advice or ideas for a first time quail mom, I would greatly appreciate it. I will post some pictures soon!

Congrats!

The chick starter will work super short term, but long term they need different vitamin levels so I would try to track down a 24%+ protein gamebird-specific feed this week. (You can also do things like supplement with black oil sunflower seeds to help with this but in general it's easier just to get a properly formulated feed)

Ok! I am currently feeding them the proper food because we requested a small amount from their previous owner. I will make sure to get more of the gamebird feed. Thank you!
