Very nice Machine!!

My wife will be happy to find out why I need a welder now!!!

It looks like you pre gut the birds before you throw them in???

Do you need to do that?

Welders are very handy for hunny-do projects!

No...we did not gut them before we put them in the plucker. All we did was chopped their heads off and let them bleed out. Then we scalded them and dropped them into the plucker.

How long are the fingers........ I bought 100 off e-bay almost a year ago and I don't know the size. They are about 6" long... are they too long for this type of plucker? I ordered the reducer and motor yesterday so I should have one up and running soon. I hope. Did you make your own featherplate?

I used fingers that are 3 ¼" in overall length. Everything I read suggested this length for chickens so I don't know the result of using longer fingers.

Yes, I purchased a 24" X 3/4" square sheet of polyethylene from a local plastic supply company. I then used a scroll saw to cut the plate into a circle and a drill press to drill the holes. I counter sunk the fingers because of the thickness of the featherplate.

My motor and reducer came in today........... can't wait toget it going..... I have to find a tub yet. I am hoping to find a metal one but may have to settle for a plastic barrel.

That's great!
We were very fortunate to get the one we have...our neighbor gave it to us. My husband had a plastic barrel on standby in case he needed it but the metal barrel ended up working out great.

Keep us updated on how it goes!
