At night my mom puts her rooster in a small cage (to separate him from my mom's uncle's rooster who is a guest mate for one of her broody hens). She puts her roo's girlfriend (she is not and has yet to be a broody hen) in the coop with the other rooster and hen.

Well this morning my mom let her rooster out and kept his girlfriend in the coop. We soon noticed him pacing back and forth around the coop entrance, vehemently flapping his wings, ready to attack the other rooster inside the coop... with his girlfriend. He's obviously very mad. LOL. So my mom goes to let his girlfriend out. As soon as she is out, the roo quickly runs to her, took her at the head, and mounted on top of her! LOL!!!

Then he (the jealous roo) started doing the mating dance that chickens do... kicking one of his feet around his girfriend. LOL. Needless to say, he doesn't let her out his sight and has been following her all morning long.

We've never had chickens before. I am just so fascinated by their human-like behaviors. It's so funny to watch them interact with one another. Oh-- and we also have another pair or couple (a pullet and cockerel) that pretty much stays together all day and night. They are sooo adorable and loyal to one another. However, the pullet likes to flirt with the rooster once in a while by going up to him and sort of pecking him a bit. The roo shows no interest in her; he's in love already! LOL.

Tell about your chicken love stories!
