We upgraded our small coop to a converted resin shed coop. Our chickens had a bad run in with cocci and the smaller coop was impossible to clean. We lost our sweetest chicken Starla
.
The new coop is a 7x7 resin shed. It has vents on the top of the roof. It’s getting colder now, but in the summer we are thinking of using one of those screen doors held in place with magnets for additional ventilation.
I used a milk crate for a nesting box and it works perfectly. We used to saw horses as roosts. And have a automatic door (chicken run brand). I feel so much better about our pullets having a safe big warm coop for winter. Once their antibiotics regimen is done we can put our cockerel Sergio back in with his ladies.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions to make our coop better. Thanks,
Bird Brain
