Our tiny new backyard coop in Antioch

You may want to rig up a small nestbox to keep your eggs cleaner. Cute though!
My heeler does fine with the birds, just had to lay down the law in the begining :)
Just see how hyped up he gets with them in the safety of the coop first...

Here's the nesting box and feeding table. The tins are nailed down.

Hope you post some pictures of your new chicks. Are you going to tie down the coop so no predators can move it?

No sleeping roost??
Yeah, I don't understand how these little things work that way. It seems so tiny.
I mean, they say 4 square feet per bird in a coop as a general rule and half that if they are tiny bantams.

Either way, it's a cute set up. I plan on building something similar as a play run, but they will have a big coop for sleeping.

My husband is working on the roosts. The coop is portable so we can move it around. We're in a suburban setting. Our predators in Antioch are after human prey.

You have chickens now. You will have predators!!! Just trying to save you heartache later. The most important thing you can do for your chickens is to make their home predator proof. Raccoons, hawks, possums and neighborhood dogs are just a few things you have to worry about no matter were you live. Good luck.
